There are seasons when prayer feels like a heavy burden—distant, difficult, or simply forgotten. Yet even in those moments, God continues to call us back with love and longing. This prayer is written to help reignite your desire for His presence and awaken a fresh hunger for communion with Him through the power of the Holy Spirit. As you pray, may your heart be stirred again, your focus renewed, and your spirit drawn into deeper fellowship with God.

Prayerlessness is a spiritual battle. Don’t miss my post on practical steps to overcoming prayerlessness.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I thank You for the privilege of prayer. I thank You for making me understand that prayerlessness is a spiritual battle waged against my communion with You. You said, “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). Father, my flesh has been weak.
O Lord, I repent of the sin of prayerlessness. Please have mercy on me, revive me by the power of Your Holy Spirit, and refresh me by the power of Your love. As it is written: “Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).
Give me the grace, strength, and willingness to watch and pray, and not give in to the desires of the flesh. Today, I lean on the grace of our Lord Jesus as I lay hold of the victory He has already won for me—the deliverance over the desires and control of the flesh. The Bible says, “For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men” (Titus 2:11). Holy Spirit, help me to pray fervently and without ceasing until I come to the fullness of Christ. It is written: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). I ask that my heart and flesh will yearn earnestly for You, always: “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” (Psalms 42:1–2). Help me to stay focused on You, even when trials and distractions fight for my attention. Help me grow in Your Word, that I may be fruitful, for You said: “And the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” (Mark 4:19). Father, let Your Word be my guide when I don’t have the right words to pray: “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer” (Psalms 61:1). I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

God, I confess that I am a sinner, and I have fallen short of Your glory. I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ died and rose again for my sins. Therefore, I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Let Him be my Lord henceforth, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
